How this operator works

every way of working, already decided
A · capability focus

Owns the system, not the ticket

Takes end-to-end ownership of a service or surface. Design, delivery, on-call. And is measured on outcomes, not hours.

B · ways of working

Embedded, async-first, instrumented

Works inside your repos, your CI and your rituals. Daily written standups, decisions logged. No status-meeting tax.

C · reliability posture

Runbooks, canaries, reversible deploys

Every change gated and reversible. Incidents get a timeline and a postmortem; nothing ships without a rollback.

D · comms & cadence

Plugged into your Slack & rituals

Joins standups and retros, reports weekly against the goal. You get an operator, not a queue.

E · tooling

Brings a pre-wired stack or adopts yours

Infrastructure and observability as code by default. No bespoke setup tax to absorb.

F · onboarding

Scoped, gated, reversible

Week-1 shadow, week-2 ownership, swap on request inside the trial window. No long-tail handover risk.

Overview

Most disaster recovery plans have never met a disaster, even a staged one. This package runs a realistic recovery drill against a defined workload, measures actual recovery time and data loss against stated objectives, and then fixes the most important failures found. The finish state is a recovery capability you have watched work, with the worst gaps closed and the honest numbers written down.

The drill is designed around plausible failure scenarios, executed in a controlled window against isolated targets, and timed properly. The remediation half of the sprint matters as much as the drill: broken runbooks corrected, missing automation added, and the highest-impact recovery failures fixed rather than filed.

·

What's included

Drill design and scenario selection

Realistic failure scenarios chosen for the workload, with a controlled execution plan.

Timed recovery exercise

The recovery executed and measured: real RTO and data-loss numbers, not estimates.

Gap report

Every failure and delay documented against objectives, ranked by impact.

Priority remediation

The most important recovery failures fixed within the sprint, and re-verified.

·

How it works

  1. Scope: confirm the workload, objectives, scenarios, and the safe execution window.
  2. Build: run the timed drill, capture the gap report, and implement priority fixes.
  3. Handover: re-verify fixed paths, hand over updated runbooks and the measured results.

FAQs

Is it safe to run a drill against our systems?

The drill runs in a controlled window against isolated recovery targets, with production explicitly protected. The scenario design phase exists to make the exercise realistic without making it dangerous.

What do we need in place first?

Backups and recovery procedures worth testing. If those do not exist yet, the Cloud Backup & Disaster Recovery Setup menu item builds them; this package then proves them.

How often should we repeat this?

At least annually, and after major architecture changes. The handover includes a repeatable drill design, so later exercises can run with less setup.
