Secure, Scalable MCP for 30,000+ AI Agents

Building a Secure, Scalable MCP Framework to Power 30,000+ AI Agents Across a Global Ecosystem
The Challenge
A global technology group operating across 100+ companies set out to enable over 30,000 AI agents to safely interact with their HR, Finance, and Data systems.
They needed a standardized, secure, and scalable MCP (Model Context Protocol) framework, the infrastructure that allows AI agents to “talk” to enterprise applications.
Key Challenges:
- Enforcing authentication and data security across hundreds of environments.
- Enabling repeatable MCP templates for rapid deployment across companies.
- Maintaining governance, observability, and performance as adoption scaled globally.
The Scrums.com Solution
Scrums.com partnered with the client to replicate and extend the Scrums.ai Agent Gateway, delivering a unified MCP architecture designed for scale, security, and speed.
Architecture & Framework Definition
- Established a Fast MCP v2 standard (TypeScript + Python) for production-grade MCP servers.
- Defined middleware standards for authentication, logging, and authorization.
- Delivered the first reusable MCP Framework v1.0, forming the blueprint for the client’s ecosystem.
Secure Infrastructure Setup
- Built containerized environments (Docker + AWS ECS).
- Integrated governance, observability, and access control through the client’s internal platform.
- Enabled per-company isolation and tokenized access for safe multi-tenant hosting.
Proof of Concept (PoC) Development
- Kicked off with a recruitment and HR automation MCP, connecting to enterprise systems like Lever and HiBob.
- Defined PoC milestones to extend the framework to Finance, Data, and Productivity systems.
- Deployed CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and real-time monitoring for continuous improvement.
The Impact
- Standardization: Reduced time to deploy new MCP servers by 60% through templated builds.
- Security: Implemented OAuth 2.0 and per-company tokenization to eliminate cross-tenant data risks.
- Scalability: Ready-to-clone Docker containers enable new companies to launch compliant MCPs in hours.
- Governance: Centralized monitoring and shared CI/CD pipelines ensure consistent delivery quality.
This initiative lays the foundation for a secure, open, and scalable AI orchestration layer, replicating the Scrums.ai Agent Gateway to power AI adoption across an entire global ecosystem.
What’s Next
Together, we’re expanding MCP deployment across additional systems, transforming how 100+ companies connect, automate, and scale AI responsibly.
“This is more than building AI connectors, it’s building the foundation for enterprise-grade orchestration across a global ecosystem.”
