Implement Stripe payment flows, webhooks, payment states, refunds, and operational handling in an existing product.
How this operator works
every way of working, already decidedOwns the system, not the ticket
Takes end-to-end ownership of a service or surface. Design, delivery, on-call. And is measured on outcomes, not hours.
Embedded, async-first, instrumented
Works inside your repos, your CI and your rituals. Daily written standups, decisions logged. No status-meeting tax.
Runbooks, canaries, reversible deploys
Every change gated and reversible. Incidents get a timeline and a postmortem; nothing ships without a rollback.
Plugged into your Slack & rituals
Joins standups and retros, reports weekly against the goal. You get an operator, not a queue.
Brings a pre-wired stack or adopts yours
Infrastructure and observability as code by default. No bespoke setup tax to absorb.
Scoped, gated, reversible
Week-1 shadow, week-2 ownership, swap on request inside the trial window. No long-tail handover risk.
Overview
Stripe makes the demo easy and the edge cases yours: webhooks that arrive twice or late, payments that succeed after the customer left, refunds and disputes that cross state boundaries. This sprint implements Stripe properly in an existing product — checkout or Payment Intents flows, a webhook-driven state machine, and idempotent handling throughout.
The implementation covers the paths that bite in production: retries, partial refunds, disputes, failed captures, and reconciliation against Stripe's records. The finish state: payments live in production with every state accounted for, plus the runbook and monitoring your team needs to operate them.
What's included
Payment flow implementation
Checkout or Payment Intents flows implemented for your pricing model, with strong-authentication and regional payment-method handling where your markets need it.
Webhook & state machine
A webhook-driven payment state machine with idempotent handling — duplicate, late, and out-of-order events accounted for by design.
Refunds, disputes & errors
Full and partial refunds, disputes, failed captures, and retry behavior implemented as first-class paths, not afterthoughts.
Operational dashboard & runbook
Reconciliation checks against Stripe's records, monitoring on payment health, and a runbook for the states that need a human.
How it works
- Scope. Agree the flows, map the pricing model, and design the payment state machine.
- Build. Implement the flows, webhooks, and refund and dispute handling; test the edge cases.
- Handover. Production rollout, reconciliation checks, and the operational runbook.

FAQs
We already bill customers elsewhere. Can this move them to Stripe?
Net-new payment capability is this sprint; moving live recurring billing between platforms is the Subscription Billing Migration item, which handles cohorts, proration, and payment-method transfer safely.
What do we need to provide?
A Stripe account, product and repository access, and decisions on pricing, tax handling, and which payment methods your markets require.
What happens after go-live?
Your team operates payments with the runbook, reconciliation checks, and monitoring handed over. New flows — subscriptions, marketplaces, additional methods — extend the same state machine as scoped follow-ons.
