Senior Frontend Engineer in Cape Town

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join the Scrums.com talent network. You will build the interfaces that users interact with every day: dashboards, data-heavy applications, customer-facing products. Client teams need frontend engineers who can turn designs into performant, accessible, production-quality code without constant hand-holding.

What You Will Work On

• Build and maintain frontend applications using React, TypeScript, and Next.js
• Implement responsive, accessible interfaces from design specifications (Figma)
• Manage application state, API integration, and client-side data fetching
• Optimise frontend performance: bundle size, rendering efficiency, and Core Web Vitals
• Write component-level and integration tests (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress or Playwright)
• Collaborate with backend engineers on API contracts and data structures

What We Look For

• 5+ years of professional frontend development experience
• Strong React and TypeScript skills with production application experience
• Understanding of modern CSS (Tailwind, CSS Modules, or styled-components)
• Experience with Next.js or similar SSR/SSG frameworks
• Attention to accessibility standards (WCAG) and cross-browser compatibility
• Ability to work from design files and make sensible UX decisions when the design does not cover every edge case
