Create a working voice agent for one bounded call flow with speech, tools, state, and handoff behavior. Finish state: a demonstrable voice agent completing real calls on one flow, with an honest read on production readiness.

How this operator works

every way of working, already decided
A · capability focus

Owns the system, not the ticket

Takes end-to-end ownership of a service or surface. Design, delivery, on-call. And is measured on outcomes, not hours.

B · ways of working

Embedded, async-first, instrumented

Works inside your repos, your CI and your rituals. Daily written standups, decisions logged. No status-meeting tax.

C · reliability posture

Runbooks, canaries, reversible deploys

Every change gated and reversible. Incidents get a timeline and a postmortem; nothing ships without a rollback.

D · comms & cadence

Plugged into your Slack & rituals

Joins standups and retros, reports weekly against the goal. You get an operator, not a queue.

E · tooling

Brings a pre-wired stack or adopts yours

Infrastructure and observability as code by default. No bespoke setup tax to absorb.

F · onboarding

Scoped, gated, reversible

Week-1 shadow, week-2 ownership, swap on request inside the trial window. No long-tail handover risk.

Overview

The Voice AI Agent Prototype builds a working voice agent for one bounded call flow — appointment booking, order status, first-line intake, outbound confirmations — and runs it against real calls. The agent listens, speaks naturally with interruption handling, uses tools mid-call (lookups, bookings, updates), keeps conversation state, and hands off to a human with context when the call leaves its lane. The finish state is a demonstrable agent completing the flow end to end, plus an honest readiness report: measured latency, completion rates, failure modes, and what production hardening would take.

Voice is the least forgiving AI surface — a two-second pause that reads fine in chat kills a phone call. The prototype is engineered for that reality from the first turn, so what you evaluate reflects what production would feel like.

·

What's included

Call Flow & Persona Design

The bounded flow mapped turn by turn — happy path, digressions, and abort conditions — with a voice persona, disclosure script, and refusal boundaries agreed before the build.

Speech & Conversation Stack

A production-candidate stack for speech-to-text, reasoning, and text-to-speech — chosen for latency and your language/accent mix — with barge-in handling and connection to a real phone number or your telephony/CCaaS platform.

Tool Actions & State

Mid-call tool use against your systems — identity checks, lookups, bookings, updates — with conversation state carried across turns and every action confirmed aloud and logged.

Handoff & Readiness Report

Warm transfer to a human with a whispered or written summary when triggers fire, full call recordings and transcripts for review, and a readiness report scoring the flow against production criteria.

·

How it works

  1. Scope — Pick the call flow, fix the persona, tools, handoff triggers, and the evaluation criteria for the pilot calls.
  2. Build — Build the agent and telephony integration; iterate on latency and conversation quality against scripted and live test calls.
  3. Handover — A demonstrable agent on a real number, the call corpus and metrics, and the production-readiness report.

FAQs

Why a prototype rather than going straight to production?

Because voice viability is empirical: latency, comprehension on your caller base, and completion rates cannot be known from a slide. The prototype buys that knowledge cheaply before you commit to a rollout.

Can it use our existing phone system?

Usually — SIP and major CCaaS platforms are the normal integration path, or the prototype runs on a dedicated number if that is faster for evaluation. The scope step confirms your setup.

What happens if the prototype proves out?

The readiness report is the bridge: taking the agent to monitored, hardened production is the AI Feature Productionization item, reusing everything the prototype established.
