How this operator works

every way of working, already decided
A · capability focus

Owns the system, not the ticket

Takes end-to-end ownership of a service or surface. Design, delivery, on-call. And is measured on outcomes, not hours.

B · ways of working

Embedded, async-first, instrumented

Works inside your repos, your CI and your rituals. Daily written standups, decisions logged. No status-meeting tax.

C · reliability posture

Runbooks, canaries, reversible deploys

Every change gated and reversible. Incidents get a timeline and a postmortem; nothing ships without a rollback.

D · comms & cadence

Plugged into your Slack & rituals

Joins standups and retros, reports weekly against the goal. You get an operator, not a queue.

E · tooling

Brings a pre-wired stack or adopts yours

Infrastructure and observability as code by default. No bespoke setup tax to absorb.

F · onboarding

Scoped, gated, reversible

Week-1 shadow, week-2 ownership, swap on request inside the trial window. No long-tail handover risk.

Overview

Mobile regressions ship silently: a journey that works on one device breaks on another OS version. This sprint automates your critical iOS and/or Android journeys with tooling such as Appium, Maestro, or the native frameworks, run across an agreed device matrix.

The suite handles the mobile-specific hard parts — device state, permission dialogs, flaky waits — and runs on every build through CI and a device cloud or simulator farm. The finish state: the agreed journeys automated across the matrix, wired into your build pipeline, and handed to your team.

·

What's included

Device matrix & journey selection

The journeys and the device/OS matrix agreed from your user data — coverage where your users actually are, not where testing is easiest.

Automation framework setup

Appium, Maestro, or the native frameworks set up for your stack, with the fixtures and app-state management mobile tests live or die on.

Journey coverage

The agreed journeys automated across the matrix, handling the mobile-specific hard parts: device state, permission dialogs, flaky waits.

CI & device-cloud integration

The suite running on every build via CI and a device cloud or simulator farm, with per-device reporting your team reads at a glance.

·

How it works

  1. Scope. Agree the journeys and the device and OS matrix.
  2. Build. Set up the framework and device execution, automate the journeys, and stabilize.
  3. Handover. CI integration, matrix reporting, and team training to extend the suite.

Part of every Delivery Plan

The Mobile Test Automation Suite is a menu item on the Scrums.com delivery catalog, available at every plan tier. Add it to your plan backlog and your delivery team schedules it like any other item — scoped, tracked, and reported through the SEOP. See Delivery Plan Tiers.

FAQs

Does this replace manual device testing?

It replaces repetitive regression on the covered journeys. Exploratory and release-level human testing remains valuable — the Manual QA Release Certification item covers that for high-stakes releases.

What do we need to provide?

A buildable app, test accounts, CI access, and a device cloud account — or the sprint recommends one sized to your matrix.

What comes after handover?

Your team extends the suite as journeys change. The Continuous Testing Pipeline item can gate releases on it, and Managed QA-as-a-Service carries mobile quality as an ongoing function.
