to your stack & domain
Automate a defined cross-system business process using n8n, Make, or Zapier plus custom API steps where needed. Finish state: the process running itself, with humans only at the decision points.
How this operator works
every way of working, already decidedOwns the system, not the ticket
Takes end-to-end ownership of a service or surface. Design, delivery, on-call. And is measured on outcomes, not hours.
Embedded, async-first, instrumented
Works inside your repos, your CI and your rituals. Daily written standups, decisions logged. No status-meeting tax.
Runbooks, canaries, reversible deploys
Every change gated and reversible. Incidents get a timeline and a postmortem; nothing ships without a rollback.
Plugged into your Slack & rituals
Joins standups and retros, reports weekly against the goal. You get an operator, not a queue.
Brings a pre-wired stack or adopts yours
Infrastructure and observability as code by default. No bespoke setup tax to absorb.
Scoped, gated, reversible
Week-1 shadow, week-2 ownership, swap on request inside the trial window. No long-tail handover risk.
Overview
The Low-Code Workflow Automation Package automates one defined business process that today crosses systems by way of a human: lead handoffs, onboarding sequences, order-to-invoice chains, approval routing, data shuttling between SaaS tools. The build uses n8n, Make, or Zapier where those tools are strong, and drops to custom API code where they are not. The finish state is the process running itself in production — with humans left only at genuine decision points, and a measured before/after of the manual time removed.
The difference between this and a self-built Zap is engineering discipline: automations built here handle failures, retries, and edge cases explicitly, because an automation that silently stops is worse than the manual process it replaced.
What's included
Process Mapping & Automation Design
The current process mapped step by step — systems, triggers, decisions, exceptions — and redesigned for automation, with human checkpoints kept only where judgment is real.
Low-Code Build
The workflow implemented on the fitting platform (n8n self-hosted or cloud, Make, or Zapier), using native connectors where they are reliable and structured to be readable by your team.
Custom API Steps
Custom code steps or small services for the parts connectors cannot do — awkward APIs, transformations, internal systems — engineered and versioned like any other code.
Error Handling & Runbook
Explicit failure paths: retries, alerting to your chat or ticketing tool, dead-letter capture of failed items, and a runbook so your team can operate and extend the automation.
How it works
- Scope — Map the process, agree the target design and platform, and baseline the manual effort being removed.
- Build — Build and test the automation against real cases, including the ugly exceptions, in a sandboxed run.
- Handover — Production cutover with a parallel-run window, the runbook, and measured time savings against the baseline.
Part of every Delivery Plan
The Low-Code Workflow Automation Package is a menu item on the Scrums.com delivery catalog, available at every plan tier. Add it to your plan backlog and your delivery team schedules it like any other item — scoped, tracked, and reported through the SEOP. See Delivery Plan Tiers.
FAQs
Why not just build it ourselves in Zapier?
For simple two-step zaps, you should. This package exists for processes with branches, exceptions, and consequences — where half-working automation quietly costs more than the manual process did.
Which platform will you choose?
The one your team can operate: existing licenses, self-hosting requirements, data-residency constraints, and volume all weigh in. The design step makes the choice explicit and reversible.
We have a whole backlog of processes like this. What then?
Run this package once to establish the pattern, then move to the Automation Engineering Pod on the menu — a standing team that works through the backlog continuously.
