The High-Volume Transaction Backend sprint builds or hardens a backend for workloads where throughput and correctness collide: payments, ordering, inventory allocation, ticketing, ledgers, bidding. The finish state is quantitative — the system sustains its agreed throughput and latency targets under realistic load tests, with zero correctness violations: no double-spends, no oversells, no lost writes.
These systems fail at the contention points: hot rows, race conditions that only appear above a certain concurrency, and queues that amplify failure instead of absorbing it. The sprint engineers those points deliberately — isolation levels, locking strategy, idempotency, and backpressure — and then proves the result under load rather than asserting it.
