Move a commerce experience to a headless architecture while preserving catalog, checkout, and operational flows. Finish state: the new front end live on the headless stack, transacting real orders.

How this operator works

every way of working, already decided
A · capability focus

Owns the system, not the ticket

Takes end-to-end ownership of a service or surface. Design, delivery, on-call. And is measured on outcomes, not hours.

B · ways of working

Embedded, async-first, instrumented

Works inside your repos, your CI and your rituals. Daily written standups, decisions logged. No status-meeting tax.

C · reliability posture

Runbooks, canaries, reversible deploys

Every change gated and reversible. Incidents get a timeline and a postmortem; nothing ships without a rollback.

D · comms & cadence

Plugged into your Slack & rituals

Joins standups and retros, reports weekly against the goal. You get an operator, not a queue.

E · tooling

Brings a pre-wired stack or adopts yours

Infrastructure and observability as code by default. No bespoke setup tax to absorb.

F · onboarding

Scoped, gated, reversible

Week-1 shadow, week-2 ownership, swap on request inside the trial window. No long-tail handover risk.

Overview

The Headless Commerce Replatform decouples your storefront from your commerce platform. The commerce engine keeps owning products, pricing, inventory, and orders; a new API-driven front end owns the experience. The finish state is explicit: the headless storefront is live in production, serving your traffic and transacting real orders, with catalog, checkout, and fulfillment flows working as they did before — or better.

Scrums.com builds commerce for mid-market and enterprise brands that have outgrown template storefronts. The sprint treats the replatform as a controlled migration, not a rewrite: core flows are mapped first, rebuilt against the platform APIs, and verified for parity before any traffic moves.

·

What's included

Architecture & API Contract

A mapped inventory of every storefront flow — catalog, search, cart, checkout, account — and the API contract between the new front end and your commerce engine, ERP, and fulfillment systems.

Headless Front End Build

A conversion-focused, responsive front end built against the contract, with server-side rendering and page-speed budgets set from the start.

Checkout & Payment Continuity

Your existing payment gateways, tax, and shipping integrations carried across intact — guest checkout, saved payments, and real-time shipping rates preserved through the cutover.

Cutover & Parity Verification

A flow-by-flow parity checklist, staged traffic cutover, SEO redirect mapping, and rollback plan — verified before, during, and after the switch.

·

How it works

  1. Scope — Map storefront flows and integrations, fix the API contract, and agree the parity checklist that defines done.
  2. Build — Build the headless front end, wire checkout and operational integrations, and verify parity in staging.
  3. Handover — Staged cutover to production, redirect map applied, and runbooks plus architecture docs handed to your team.

Part of every Delivery Plan

The Headless Commerce Replatform is a menu item on the Scrums.com delivery catalog, available at every plan tier. Add it to your plan backlog and your delivery team schedules it like any other item — scoped, tracked, and reported through the SEOP. See Delivery Plan Tiers.

FAQs

Do we have to change our commerce platform too?

No. The sprint decouples the front end from whatever engine you run today. If you also want to change the engine, that is the Commerce Platform Migration — a separate menu item, often scheduled after this one.

What happens to SEO during the cutover?

URL structures are preserved where possible and a full redirect map covers the rest. The cutover is staged so rankings-critical pages are verified live before legacy pages are retired.

What do we need ready before the sprint starts?

API access to your commerce platform, a list of active third-party integrations, and a named owner for checkout and payments sign-off. The scope step confirms the rest.
