How this operator works

every way of working, already decided
A · capability focus

Owns the system, not the ticket

Takes end-to-end ownership of a service or surface. Design, delivery, on-call. And is measured on outcomes, not hours.

B · ways of working

Embedded, async-first, instrumented

Works inside your repos, your CI and your rituals. Daily written standups, decisions logged. No status-meeting tax.

C · reliability posture

Runbooks, canaries, reversible deploys

Every change gated and reversible. Incidents get a timeline and a postmortem; nothing ships without a rollback.

D · comms & cadence

Plugged into your Slack & rituals

Joins standups and retros, reports weekly against the goal. You get an operator, not a queue.

E · tooling

Brings a pre-wired stack or adopts yours

Infrastructure and observability as code by default. No bespoke setup tax to absorb.

F · onboarding

Scoped, gated, reversible

Week-1 shadow, week-2 ownership, swap on request inside the trial window. No long-tail handover risk.

Overview

Your application is only as compatible as the last browser you actually tested. This sprint validates a defined web application across an agreed matrix of browsers, versions, and devices — desktop and mobile — and fixes an agreed set of the defects found.

Issues are documented per combination with evidence, then remediated in ranked order: layout breaks, input and event differences, API and polyfill gaps. The finish state: the application certified against the matrix, a defect log with resolutions, and a report you can hand to stakeholders or enterprise customers.

·

What's included

Matrix definition

The browser, version, and device matrix agreed from your analytics — tested where your users actually are, weighted by traffic.

Structured validation pass

The critical flows executed across every combination in the matrix, with defects logged per combination and backed by evidence.

Defect remediation

An agreed set of the findings fixed in ranked order: layout breaks, input and event differences, API and polyfill gaps.

Certification report

A per-combination certification report with resolutions and residual issues — a document you can hand to stakeholders or enterprise customers.

·

How it works

  1. Scope. Agree the browser and device matrix and the critical flows to validate.
  2. Build. Execute the validation pass, log defects with evidence, and remediate the agreed set.
  3. Handover. Certification report, residual-issue list, and a matrix re-test checklist.

Part of every Delivery Plan

The Cross-Browser Compatibility Certification is a menu item on the Scrums.com delivery catalog, available at every plan tier. Add it to your plan backlog and your delivery team schedules it like any other item — scoped, tracked, and reported through the SEOP. See Delivery Plan Tiers.

FAQs

How is the matrix chosen?

From your analytics: the browsers, versions, and devices your traffic actually uses, weighted by share. If you have no analytics baseline, the sprint proposes a defensible market-share matrix instead.

Are all defects fixed?

The remediation budget covers an agreed set, ranked by user impact. Everything found is logged with evidence either way, so the residual list is a decision, not a surprise.

How do we keep compatibility after this release?

The re-test checklist covers manual re-certification, and the Web Test Automation Suite menu item can run your critical journeys across browsers automatically on every change.
