Create a secure, governed multi-account AWS foundation with identity, networking, logging, and baseline controls, delivered as code.
How this operator works
every way of working, already decidedOwns the system, not the ticket
Takes end-to-end ownership of a service or surface. Design, delivery, on-call. And is measured on outcomes, not hours.
Embedded, async-first, instrumented
Works inside your repos, your CI and your rituals. Daily written standups, decisions logged. No status-meeting tax.
Runbooks, canaries, reversible deploys
Every change gated and reversible. Incidents get a timeline and a postmortem; nothing ships without a rollback.
Plugged into your Slack & rituals
Joins standups and retros, reports weekly against the goal. You get an operator, not a queue.
Brings a pre-wired stack or adopts yours
Infrastructure and observability as code by default. No bespoke setup tax to absorb.
Scoped, gated, reversible
Week-1 shadow, week-2 ownership, swap on request inside the trial window. No long-tail handover risk.
Overview
Workloads built into a single ungoverned AWS account become the constraint every later project pays for. This package delivers a proper AWS landing zone: a multi-account structure with identity, networking, logging, and baseline guardrails in place before workloads arrive. The finish state is a governed foundation your teams can deploy into on day one.
The build follows AWS multi-account best practice: an organisation with separated management, security, and workload accounts, centralised identity, service control policies as guardrails, network foundations, and organisation-wide audit logging. Everything is delivered as Terraform, so the foundation is reproducible and reviewable, not click-built.
What's included
Multi-account structure and guardrails
AWS Organizations layout with service control policies enforcing your baseline rules.
Identity and access baseline
Centralised sign-on and role patterns replacing long-lived IAM users.
Network foundation
VPC architecture, shared networking, and connectivity patterns ready for workloads.
Logging and audit baseline
Organisation-wide CloudTrail, centralised logs, and security tooling enabled by default.
How it works
- Scope: confirm account structure, identity source, network ranges, and compliance requirements.
- Build: implement the landing zone as Terraform, with guardrails, identity, networking, and logging.
- Handover: onboard the first workload account, walk your team through operations, hand over the code.
Part of every Delivery Plan
The AWS Landing Zone Setup is a menu item on the Scrums.com delivery catalog, available at every plan tier. Add it to your plan backlog and your delivery team schedules it like any other item — scoped, tracked, and reported through the SEOP. See Delivery Plan Tiers.
FAQs
Does this migrate our existing workloads?
No. The landing zone is the destination, not the move. The Cloud Migration Sprint is the menu item that moves a workload into it and cuts it over.
We already have one AWS account in use. Is that a problem?
No, it is the normal starting point. The existing account is enrolled into the new organisation structure, and a path for gradually rehoming its workloads is part of the handover.
Who operates the landing zone afterwards?
Your team, using the delivered Terraform and runbooks. Because everything is code, changes go through review rather than console clicks.
