Senior Architect : Enterprise Applications

This role is responsible for driving enterprise application architecture across the organisation, including core business platforms such as ERP, CRM, finance systems, and other mission critical enterprise systems. The role involves assessing current and future enterprise application ecosystems and proposing technical solutions aligned to business strategy. The incumbent will own enterprise architecture solutions and functionality across all markets, and will lead the design and standardisation of architectural and integration methodologies group wide.

Responsibilities

Architecture and Strategy

  • Define enterprise application architecture for scalability, security, and high availability
  • Develop and maintain application roadmaps for core platforms including ERP, CRM, Finance, and HR
  • Drive standardisation of enterprise systems across markets to reduce duplication
  • Align enterprise applications with domain driven architecture and business capability models
  • Define and enforce integration patterns, including API led and event driven architecture
  • Guide modernisation of legacy enterprise systems towards modular, cloud native, and composable architectures
  • Conduct regular gap analyses of use cases and capabilities to identify growth opportunities

Stakeholder Engagement and Delivery

  • Provide technical guidance to stakeholders to support innovative use cases
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to build solutions aligned to business demands and roadmaps
  • Lead requirement gathering workshops to ensure business requirements are fully captured
  • Support solution deployment planning
  • Review and approve designs, ensuring formal sign off from stakeholders

Governance and Reporting

  • Track and report on the number of successfully governed and implemented enterprise solutions
  • Monitor the percentage of solution components aligned to target architecture
  • Measure improvements in system integration efficiency and data consistency
  • Track reduction in technical debt and critical incidents traced to architectural issues
  • Manage and resolve escalations impacting enterprise systems, integrations, and cross platform dependencies
  • Report periodically to leadership on progress against defined metrics, and on an ad hoc basis for specific projects

Budget Support

  • Support planning and management of enterprise application systems within the technology budget, including capex and opex

Experience and education

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Relevant professional certification, accreditation, or body membership as required

Certifications (Preferred)

  • SAP, Oracle, or Salesforce architecture certifications
  • TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture certification (e.g. SAFe Architect, Azure/AWS/GCP Architect, or Mobile App Architect)
  • Vendor certifications such as Apigee, Kong, MuleSoft, or AWS API Gateway

Experience

  • Minimum 8 to 10 years in software and enterprise architecture roles
  • At least 5 years focused on enterprise applications such as ERP, CRM, Finance, or HR systems
  • Experience applying TOGAF or similar enterprise architecture frameworks
  • Experience in architecture governance, capability maturity assessments, and standardisation efforts
  • Proficiency in software engineering
  • Experience designing secure data pipelines, including encryption at rest and in transit, tokenisation, and data masking
  • Experience with enterprise integration patterns, including ESB, API gateways, event streaming, and iPaaS
  • Experience integrating internal and external systems using RESTful APIs and Webhooks
  • Experience designing and operating real time data platforms using Kafka, Event Hubs, or Pub/Sub
  • Strong understanding of compliance standards such as PSD2, GDPR, PCI DSS, and Open Banking
  • Understanding of Agile delivery processes, including Scrum and Kanban
